What to do for New Year’s Eve?

5 reacties

This year’s been a year of many challenges, sadness, grief, and hardship. Nothing has been untouched by the impact caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and New Year’s Eve festivities have been curtailed and cancelled. That doesn’t mean that the spirit of New Year’s Eve needs to be forgotten or discarded. In fact, what to do for New Year’s Eve can take on a completely new symbolic feeling.

While social gatherings, large parties, and other festivities have been cancelled as the novel coronavirus pandemic continues to spread in America (and around the world), holding socially distanced and risk-free parties and celebrations are the order of the day.

Things to do on New Year’s Eve

“Out with old and in with the new '' is a saying that familiarly flies around on New Year’s Eve and Day. In some countries, such as Italy, people literally throw out old furniture and stuff from their windows in a custom to cleanse their lives for the new year that awaits them. While you shouldn’t throw any furniture through your windows, you can perhaps take the opportunity to do a spot of cleaning and redecorating. Blinds are the easiest, quickest, and cleanest ways to transform the look and feel of a room, apartment, or house. Inexpensive too, blinds let more light into your space than do curtains, take up less space, and declutter a room, while also allowing you to shut out the light (and neighbours when you feel like having more privacy).

How to Celebrate New Year’s at Home

Although you’re sitting at home this New Year’s Eve, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Of course, with COVID-19, being at home is the best and safest place for you and your loved ones to ensure that you’ll be able to celebrate with each over many more New Year’s Eve celebrations to come. There are great ways you can still ring in the new year with fun by adjusting and changing the New Year’s Eve traditions:
• Party Atmosphere: You might be at home through self-isolation or quarantine, but you can still dress up in that killer outfit you picked out earlier this year. You can still have a dance-off and play your favourite music to tap your feet while you snack on delicious home-made snacks. You’ll need a great JBL sound system to deliver that quality audio experience and to feel you’re at a live concert.
• Party Snacks: You may not have all the delightful treats from your local deli, but that doesn’t mean you can’t create a fancy cocktail and snack platter or two for yourself and your family.
• Party Smiles: Technology has gained in leaps and bounds, and during the lockdown, they treated us to virtual party apps and enhanced video calling apps. That means your friends and family will still get to see your outfit and your smiles. Say selfie!

New Year’s Day Parties

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) has issued health guidelines for the Festive Season, with them calling for socially distanced celebrations. They have ruled that the best and safest way to enjoy the New Year’s Eve and Day parties is to restrict the gatherings to people that belong to the same household only. Travel, social gatherings with people other than from our ‘social bubble’ are to be avoided, as these events can lead to the spreading of the COVID-19 virus. The safest way to gather is in an airy space, maintaining social distancing, and to wear a mask now.

Closing

The New Year’s Eve and Day celebrations should differ from previous years. Our traditions, customs, and rituals are important, but we need to adapt them to fit in according to the unprecedented times we now live. None would like to restrict our celebrations, activities, and events to just our immediate household members, but we need to be mindful of playing our part in staying safe and curbing the spread of the coronavirus. We can change our traditions a little, embrace technology to still share in the special moments with friends and family, and put on a party at home for ourselves to relax and reflect on the year that was and look to the year that will be.

Pluspunt de uitleg over de installatie is goed.
Min punt.
